A 17-year old girls student’s death in Tamil Nadu has become a point of debate and political protests. A 12th standard student studying in a boarding school died on 19th January at Thanjavur, a suspected case of suicide. Victim was a student of Sacred Heart School, Thirukattupalli staying at the boarding facility St Michael’s Girl’s Home. The girl is alleged to have consumed pesticide at the boarding facility – the school treated her in a nearby facility for vomiting and later informed parents of “illness”.
