I spent over a decade helping people overcome physical limitations. Which revolved around significant injuries in sports. The result? A lot of ACL clients. The most common factor? A complete lack of understanding between movement patterns, muscle function and activation, and no one inside or outside of the sport to guide them. It’s time to learn what the ACL is, its function, the risk, and prevention/recovery strategies.
Why now?
One of my college athletes had a teammate tear an ACL in warmups. This is very upsetting because warmups are specifically designed to prepare you for sport. An injury like that means so many things had to go wrong for that athlete. While someone should have noticed the warning signs, the way the team’s warmups are designed is clearly insufficient. Since no one wants to take the time to educate parents, coaches, and athletes, I will have to do it myself. Opening lines of communication between a prevention/recovery specialist and the people you care about.
