Listen

Description

Listen, I'm not here to tell you that someone else's content is mediocre. I'm here to tell you that social media has allowed for mediocre content to be created. There's no longer a need to be first, nor a need to be great. Finding a niche market that will look for your take on the topic means ignoring the other one hundred times you saw that information. You need it from your source. Unfortunately, that source isn't always the best to handle that topic or situation.

This isn't just about how we receive information from our sources. Our attentions are shorter, so instead of crafting a well curated message we get thrown out infomercials from people who can't sell. They don't have to; their followers are into whatever they pitch but as a whole now the entire market is flooded with halfhearted sales pitches. Blatant copy and paste from someone else's content because their audience needs to hear it from them.

In the world of sports, we see this in repeat highlights and information. Slap a # and add your watermark to the video someone else posted and mention them if you feel like it. Cause your people wouldn't have seen it right away if it weren't for you. In order to do this and make it seem relevant and important, we've thrown hyperbole to the max. "I can't believe," "Did you see?" "First time ever..." "You won't believe..." and on and on.

We didn't turn to the "experts" for them to say they never saw something every day. Kinda makes you wonder how they're experts if they've never experienced anything like what happened today... every single day. It's what we must resort to after being bombarded with bad actors and bad acts on social media just to make us pause our short attention spans long enough to realize we are interested in your post.
