Alibi is an initiative started by Gagasan Mahasiswa Undang-Undang Sabah (GUNS).
Sabah is a state rich with tradition and culture as it is home to many indigenous groups. One of them is the Kadazan community, a group largely found in Penampang on the west coast of Sabah, the surrounding locales, as well as many different locations in the interior. The term “Kadazandusun” was created after the integration of cultures between the Kadazans and the Dusuns, and they are now one of the largest ethnic groups in Sabah.
Komuhakan is a youth-led movement seeking to promote and empower the culture and identity of Sabahan indigenous communities. In this episode, GUNS has invited a special guest from this initiative, Ms Velvette Rozelle Roger, to discuss the topic of Sabah's indigenous groups, mainly the Kadazan community. We explore issues such as the struggles that they currently face, how to overcome them, as well as the hopes for the community. We also get the opportunity to learn more about the story of Komuhakan and as a law student society, we cover discussions on our native laws as well!
