Description

You just found out that your best friend is a murderer, and has bodies hidden in their basement. You call the police, but by the time they arrive at the house, your friend has moved the bodies... there are still insects though. The police know that these insects only live on decomposing flesh, and question your friend. Your friend says that his cat had recently died, and caused the infestation. You know he's lying, but can't prove it... if only the police could test the DNA in the insects stomachs... luckily, they can.

In this episode I interviewed Dr. Gail Anderson, who is a world renowned Forensic Entomologist, Professor, Associate Director at the SFU School of Criminology, Co-Director of the Center for Forensic Research, Director of Undergraduate Programs at SFU... the list goes on. We talked about Forensic Entomology, and how it can be used to determine everything from the poison used in a killing, to the length of time a babies diaper has gone unchanged.
