The protests across the country following the release of a video which shows officer Derek Chauvin with his knee on George Floyd's neck for over 8 minutes while three other officers stood there watching Floyd's life being snatched away.
The atrocity of the murder is nothing new; after the civil war, blacks were chased much like wild animals, gunned down, their bodies left to be consumed by animals or decomposed.
These murders are the direct result of policies, legislations and laws designed specifically to put blacks in those predicaments.
Will there be a different outcome this time?
Across the country, businesses in various industries have been looking at ways to change the culture of discrimination. Already guidelines have been put in place to combat this plague.
While this is happening, Republican lawmakers gathered in Washington on Thursday, June 25, 2020 to discuss areas of the protests that can be criminalized. Those GOP lawmakers are calling on FBI to arrest protesters they labeled terrorists.
Republicans have always proven to be anti-black (see The Republican Party Is A Haven for Racists), thus anti any reform that would validate Blacks have been wrongfully dealt with. The question that was asked before “Will there be a different outcome this time?” is still relevant in light of the Republicans' effort to muzzle the protests.
