The expression "The Big Divide" has been in the American politics since the creation of the Republic. But its meaning has changed throughout history. Under Obama, it means more or less that most Whites in the Republican Party resented the idea of a Black president to begin with let alone a Black Democrat President.
Today, the expression means war, war between those who support Trump and everyone else (Democrats, Independents & even Republicans who do not approve of Trump).
