Welcome to OHSCA Interviews! Today we have the MP for Portage—Lisgar joining us, The Honourable Candice Bergen.
Candice is a lifelong resident of Manitoba, where she has worked in both business and politics. She has worked in the financial planning industry, and was the Manitoba Campaign Manager for Stephen Harper’s leadership bid for the Conservative Party of Canada. She was first elected in 2008 and has been reelected 3 times since then. In 2013, she was appointed Minister of Social Development by Prime Minister Harper, and in 2016 she was appointed as Conservative House Leader by the Interim Conservative Leader, Rona Ambrose. In 2020, Erin O’Toole chose Candice as the Deputy Leader of the CPC and of the Official Opposition. Outside of politics, she has also dedicated time to her community, notably working with many young people and youth groups around the riding.
