Welcome to OHSCA Interviews! Today we have the a CPC Leadership Candidate and the former Premier of Quebec joining us, The Honourable Jean Charest.
Jean was first elected to the House of Commons in 1984 at the age of 26. 2 years later, in 1986, Prime Minister Mulroney appointed him to be the Minister of State for Youth, making him the youngest Cabinet Member ever at that time at the age of 28. Jean served as the Deputy Prime Minister under PM Kim Campbell, and then became PC Leader in 1995. In 1998, Jean joined Quebec politics, and in 2003, he was elected as Premier of Quebec, a post in which he served until 2012. Currently, Jean is a Partner at McCarthy Tétrault LLP.
