John’s identity, discipleship and ministry was motivated, defined and marked by the love of Jesus. He is writing the Gospel of John around age of 85. In that time, he would have been in the ministry for probably 60 or 70 years. He was known as the disciple whom Jesus loved. Relationship with Jesus is not about performance, is not about projects, is not about to–do lists. It is about being transformed by the love of Jesus and being defined by his love.
