HEALTH AND FITNESS - EXERCISE PART TWO

  1. Circuit training: A form of exercise that involves performing a series of different exercises in a specific order, typically targeting different muscle groups, with minimal rest between each exercise. It is designed to improve strength, endurance and overall fitness.

  2. CrossFit™: CrossFit™ is a branded fitness regimen created by Greg Glassman. It combines elements of high-intensity interval training, weightlifting, cardio, and functional movements. CrossFit™ workouts are known for their intensity and focus on constantly varied movements.

  3. Cross trainer: Also known as an elliptical trainer or elliptical machine, a cross trainer is a stationary exercise machine that simulates activities like running, walking or stair climbing. It provides a low-impact cardiovascular workout while engaging both the upper and lower body muscles.

It often involves adopting healthier habits, such as regular exercise, balanced diet and adequate rest with the goal of achieving a more desirable level of fitness.

  11. Gym: Short for gymnasium, a gym typically refers to a facility or space equipped for physical exercise and fitness training. Gyms usually offer a range of workout equipment, such as weights, cardio machines, and resistance training machines, along with amenities like showers and lockers.

  12. Gymnasium: Originally referring to a space designed for physical education or sports activities, a gymnasium is a building or hall used for indoor athletic pursuits including various sports, exercises and physical training.

  13. Health club: Similar to a fitness center or gym, a health club is a facility that provides a range of fitness and wellness services, typically with a focus on promoting overall health. Health clubs often offer fitness equipment, group exercise classes, personal training, spa services and other amenities for their members.
