In this outlandish poem, A HERON'S TESTIMONY, the poet expresses the fear of a girl about the flirty nature of the lover. She takes comfort in the thought that there stood a Heron as a silent witness to the marriage and may stand testimony in case of any breach of faith by the man.
A HERON'S TESTIMONY
At the hour when my sweetheart
Married me subtly,
There were no one to authenticate
However, the cheat himself
if he retracts on his promise
what else is there to do?
However, there stood a heron
on thin, greenish legs
fashioned like a millet's stem
searching for fish
in the shallow stream
