Description

ABOUT THE POEM:

This is a translated version of a bewitching poem, LOVELY LASS OF THE FISHERFOLK. It is about what the lover said to himself about his change of temperament after meeting the gazelle-eyed little lass of the fisherfolk with an elegant waist and sweeping hips. He elaborates that it was a pleasure to stay in the fishing village and every sight, scene and scent he experienced in the village gave him pleasure before meeting her.

LOVELY LASS OF THE FISHERFOLK

To remain in the fishing town

alongside the waters

was ecstatic

where they spread to dry

under the shrub trees

shrimps trapped in the estuary,

with their fragments

look like delicate youthful turmeric.

of late have become miserable

once I  looked

into the gazelle eyes

of the lovely  lass of the fisherfolk,

with elegant waist  and

sweeping hips.
