Theories:
(1) Certain storm or typhoon occurrences that is far from the shores can cause a tidal phenomenon
(2) Plate tectonics - combined with other natural phenomena like ground water regimes, or, natural gas migrations leading to a small rise in the land mass, or, a dip in the sea floor.
Extra: Check out tidal boring - especially in China’s Qiantang river - which happens due to a tidal occurrence, but not sure which one.
