Our team offers honey at six farmers markets April - October and the Nashville Farmers Market year round.
STRANGE HONEY FARM - GARY STRANGE started his apiary in 1983 with 100 hives in Del Rio, TN. Today, Gary and his crew care for 1400 natural hives and harvest pure, raw honey. Strange Honey Farm has been registered with the Tennessee Department of Agriculture for 25 years. Strange Honey Farm harvests enough honey April-October to last through the winter months supplying 100% PURE TENNESSEE MOUNTAIN HONEY year round. Light or dark wildflower and Sourwood honey.
SOURCE OF HONEY Located in the Southern Appalachian Mountains, Del Rio sits along the French Broad River in the Tennessee Cherokee National Forest about 240 miles northeast of Nashville. Fortunately, the mountains are not conducive to industry or commercial farming and pesticide spraying. Located in ZONE 7, our honey helps people across Tennessee with seasonal allergies. This pristine environment is a beekeeper's dream come true: it provides a full season of nectar and pollen for healthy bees and in turn, a significant harvest of delicious honey.
UPDATE NOVEMBER 2022, we are pleased to report our combined small businesses are healthy and resilient. We remain ready to ship honey to local and out-of-state clientele through our online shop. Nashville hotels and restaurants feature our honey; catering bartenders and chefs know we reliably offer 100% natural honey. We partner with CSAs and farm to home delivery entrepreneurs. Our honey products are found in community shops and farmers markets. Importantly, we support community outreach with honey donations.
