Self compassion in suffering is a short mindful exercise or meditation meant to help us deal with hard times.
The act of mindful meditation is not to clear the mind or blindly let things go. Instead it asks us to take a look or examine the hard things in our lives. When we can look objectively at our difficulties suddenly those difficulties become easier.
To do this mindfulness meditation we need to call up a little suffering. This can be a difficult exercise; if you are new to the act of thinking about of pain while in meditation I recommend you begin with a small issue. Nothing too difficult. These types of mindful meditation exercises can bring up difficult emotions. It's best to start small and slowly work up to more challenging issues.
