In this episode, we talk with actress Juanita Olivo about her background, and all about performing - both on stage and how this can translate to whatever career you’ve chosen.
Takeaways:
On Finding Your Passion
-It’s important to find a passion that you’re willing to sacrifice and work hard for, but you may find many passions on your journey
-It’s okay if it takes time to figure out what you want to do
-Listen to yourself (inner voice) to find your path, it may also change later
On Performing
-It’s a choice whether you let mistakes and your mind dictate how you act in the present moment
-It takes practice to be aware that you have the choice to let mistakes hold you back or if you can “flow” into the next moment
On Mindset
-Get in touch with how you’re feeling in your body with mini-meditations and body scans before you perform (public speaking, presentations, etc.)
-Remind yourself of your humanity and the audience’s humanity
-Think of a performance as an exchange of energy between performers and the audience; treat it as a discovery
-Be compelling by being authentic
