Description

The eiffel tower is located in the champ de mars, an open space in the west of paris. It was built for the paris exhibition of 1889 by french engineer alexander gustave eiffel. This tower is built of steel girders which are about 7.000 tones heavy. It is 322 metres high from the base of the structure, including the television aerial. It was the tallest structure in the world before the erection of the empire state building in New york, which is 448 metres high and where 25.000 people work in 940 firms. The eiffel tower is a favourite visiting place fot tourist. They can go up by using a lift or staircase. From the top if this tower they can have a nice view of paris. Besides, they have also have drink and meals in the restaurant. Besides, this tower serves other purposes. It serves an important wireless and television station. The tower is also an office for the study of weather conditions.
