Fer Juaristi is one of the most creative wedding photographers in the world today, and most humble. His work has permeated and affected the industry at a global level mixing wild cinematic movement and composition with quirky design and tons of energy. From his home in Monterey, Mexico to the corners of the world Fer's photographic journey has left him with a really unique and special perspective on his family, his priorities, and why this job matters so much. This sit down with Fer was all about maximizing our creative ceiling. Seeing things in new ways, pursuing personal growth over business success, and building a strong community of like minded friends are just a few of the topics that we covered on our way through Fer's story.
Fer says it best in this interview. For years the wedding photography industry has been consumed by people quick to niche themselves into a style or micro genre. Documentary shooters. The Looks Like Film people. The Fearless Photographers. Often what we end up seeing when these communities arise is a level of insecurity towards the way other people are doing things. Fer's perspective on pulling little ideas, concepts, creative tactics from as many sources as possible and allowing all art to permeate into his work may be the reason that his photography is so creatively compelling. It really is a great conversation with one of my very favorite shooters in the world today.
