In episode 82 of the Outdoor Minimalist podcast, we are talking about creating a more adaptive hiking space and other ways to make outdoor recreation more accessible for all. Every body, no matter the size, race, gender, class, or ability deserves a chance to experience the joys of being outside. But how can we make that happen for adventurers that have physical disabilities and limitations due to their wheelchairs?
That’s a question that Tish Scolnik and her team decided to answer in her creation of an all terrain wheelchair.
Tish is the CEO and co-founder of GRIT, a mission-driven business that empowers people with physical disabilities to enjoy the outdoors. Their flagship product is the GRIT Freedom Chair, an all-terrain wheelchair that she co-invented along with classmates from MIT.
