"Ego is the enemy" By Ryan Holiday was a book I was reading in preparation to go to Iraq. This quote from the episode shapes the conversation about why being wrong is so difficult for us, and our egos:
"ego is the enemy of what you want and of what you have: Of mastering a craft. Of real creative insight. Of working well with others. Of building loyalty and support. Of longevity. Of repeating and retaining your success. It repulses advantages and opportunities. It’s a magnet for enemies and errors."
Ego is also the enemy of progress... If we constantly strive to protect our ego, instead of keeping it in check, we may eventually digress as a society into less freedom for everyone.
I want to hear your feedback on this format! Hopefully I can start getting more guests lined up!
