When a movie, a good movie, takes a hard left turn in a completely different direction, how does an audience react? When the left turn seems detrimental to every other decision that the movie has made, what do we take away? Do we appreciate the craft put in to the movie up until that point? Or does the sudden change in direction detract from everything built to that point?
