God of Glory, we thank you for being a gracious and merciful Father to us all.

Thank You for your loving and abiding presence, which has kept us till this day. There is not a single moment that You are not with us. We praise You for all blessings that You have bestowed upon us.

Our Father in heaven, we come before your throne rejoicing and counting our blessings in Christ. We acknowledge that everything we have in our possession, comes from You. Each time when we return a portion of what You have given us - remind us that You are not only interested in what we give back but also what we keep for ourselves. Make us sensitive to the needs of others that in our daily living, we might demonstrate the love that we have received from You by caring for them.

Teach us to draw near to You and learn to see You as you truly are; the Rock of all ages, secure and immovable. Help us to trust in Your faithfulness, reminding us You are the one who keeps and sustains us each day.

We remember those whose lives are affected by sickness, death in the family, a difficult relationship, the global recession and all kinds of trials and sufferings. Lord, be merciful to Your children. Strengthen their faith in You. Cause them to look beyond the circumstances of life and to look to You as the basis of their hope. Renew their strength and restore their health. Grant every one of them the full assurance of Your constant love & presence.

You loved us with a love beyond our understanding and have led us to the paths of righteousness for Your name’s sake.

We have often strayed from Your way, sinned against you in thought, word, and deed. We have not loved You with our whole heart, and have not loved our neighbours as ourselves.

We confess how hard it is to be Your people. You have called us to be the church that reaches out to the world in darkness.

We acknowledge we have not been faithful and committed to Your calling. We often failed to be an effective witness by our example, conduct and obedience to Your Word and to share your Word with others.

Look upon us with mercy and cleanse us of our sins and unrighteousness. Create in us a clean heart and renew a right spirit in us. Remove anything that is not from You and help us to live up to our calling for the sake of Your Son, Jesus Christ.

We acknowledge Your sovereign rule over our lives and over this land we call home. We thank You for the opportunity to celebrate another year of our existence as a nation. Help us respond with a deep sense of gratitude and appreciation for the last 57 years of Your goodness and faithfulness. Indeed, we have been blessed beyond what we deserve.

We pray for those whom You have ordained to govern and rule over this nation. Help them to exercise their authority with humility and compassion. Grant them the wisdom in dealing with challenging issues and making difficult decisions that concern the very well-being and existence of the people they have sworn to protect. We pray for peace to prevail in this land and in the surrounding region. Teach us not to take for granted the peace we have enjoyed for so long. Help us make every effort to live in peace and harmony with one another and to be sensitive to those who are different from us.

Help us, not only to be a good citizen but a good neighbor, extending this neighborliness beyond our family – to the migrants, the orphans, the widows, those who are living alone, and those who are struggling mentally or financially during difficult times. Save us from pride, arrogance, complacency, godlessness and from obsession with transient and temporal things.

Take us deeper in our walk with You and cause us to live in constant surrender to You! We asked all these with thanksgiving in the wonderful name of our Lord Jesus, Amen.
