Description

Master; We feel that in today's time there is a TRUE delusion of what this word means. We water down words and weaken the meaning God intended for us to understand. Listen as Austin and Sydney dive deep into scripture to understand this attribute of God - what does it mean when we say God is our Master?

Hebrew words for master:

•Lord, owner, sovereign, Controller, ruler( https://biblehub.com/hebrew/113.htm)

Greek Meaning

•strong, robust, having power over, possessed of, controlling

"The LORD sits enthroned over the flood; the LORD is enthroned as King forever" (Psalm 29:10)
"Yours, LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, LORD, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all. Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things. In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all." (1 Chronicles 29:11-12)

What kind of Master is God?
"As for God, his way is perfect: The LORD's word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him."- Psalm 18:30
"The LORD is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion."-Psalm 116:5

"Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens. Our God is a God who saves; from the Sovereign LORD comes escape from death." - Psalm 68:19-20

Matthew 10:24
The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord
Matthew 14:30
But when he felt the wind he grew frightened, and beginning to sink he cried out, "Master, save me."

Also just to hit Luke 22:54-62 where Peter denies Jesus. How scared and fearful he must of been to deny someone he called his MASTER. *** How much greater to through away Jesus when we feel the pressure? Gah, Peter didn't even have the holy spirit at that time `and we DO. How much greater is out treachery against God when we deny Him with having the indwelling of the Spirit. My heart breaks, I feel weak and overwhelmed at looking at this picture. How could we possibly disregard such a great master?

Application:

•Change your view of God: He's not a master with a whip beating us up constantly. We don't have to constantly be doing something good to earn his favor.
•Live in obedience: Not in a "obey your boss, obey your parents - because I said so". But out of love for God. If you truly love God, you will want to listen to him, keep his commands, and praise Him.
•Run to Him in praise. Say it out loud who He is. He is your master, protector, healer, conqueror, and Savior. Tell Him He is a good master. Praise Him and ask Him for more of the Holy Spirit.
