Description

Austin and Sydney dive deep into scripture to better understand God's Sovereignty. We look at God's Sovereignty over the Earth, Creation (mankind), and in tragedies. This is Part 1 of a 2 Part series.

Revelations 3:15-17 You either believe the Bible in it's entirety or you don't. Don't be lukewarm.

Sovereignty means:
Hebrew- reign , Rule, dominion
Greek- kingship, sovereignty, authority, rule, especially of God, both in the world, and in the hearts of men; hence: kingdom, in the concrete sense.

God sits sovereign over the earth

•Psalm 135:6- "Whatever the LORD pleases, He does, In heaven and in earth, in the seas and in all deeps."
•1 Samuel 2:10- " "Those who contend with the LORD will be shattered; Against them He will thunder in the heavens, The LORD will judge the ends of the earth; And He will give strength to His king, And will exalt the horn of His anointed."
•Psalm 47:2- "For the LORD Most High is to be feared, A great King over all the earth."

God sits sovereign over His creations(mankind)

•Romans 9:19-21- "You will say to me then, "Why does He still find fault? For who resists His will?" On the contrary, who are you, O man, who answers back to God? The thing molded will not say to the molder, "Why did you make me like this," will it? Or does not the potter have a right over the clay, to make from the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for common use?"
•Isaiah 45:9-10 - "Woe to the one who quarrels with his Maker-- An earthenware vessel among the vessels of earth! Will the clay say to the potter, 'What are you doing?' Or the thing you are making say, 'He has no hands'? "Woe to him who says to a father, 'What are you begetting?' Or to a woman, 'To what are you giving birth?'"

God is Sovereign over tragedies

•Psalm 29:10- "The LORD sat as King at the flood; Yes, the LORD sits as King forever."

Application:

•Read Scripture. I challenge you to start anywhere. Choose a book and start to read until you've finished. Take it day-by-day. Devotionals and books written by humans should not be your only source.
•Look at your beliefs and feelings and put them up against Scripture. Do you believe that God is Sovereign?
