Messaging Is Not About You. Learn To Speak To, Not At, Your Customers
When it comes to talking about what you do it can be easy to just say it in a way that you get. That may not work for your audience or potential customers. Stephen Krausse, a business operations expert, shares his experience with missing the mark on messaging. He explains that when you share about your business sometimes it's not the right words.
Steve muses, "the person you're talking to may have that pain point. But they may not define it the same way. And so if you say, I'm offering services to solve this pain point, and they don't define it with those words, they might not make the association that you're trying to help them or that you're capable of helping them." You don't have to know exactly what to say to start, but when you start talking don't forget to listen too. Your customers will tell you what they do and don't like about what you're saying.
