In this episode, I sit down to chat with public speaking coach Amanda Fuel about what to do when you have to show up but feel like you just want to cancel the whole thing! It happens to us all, we schedule a speaking gig or presentation then the big day arrives and for some reason, we just aren't feeling ourselves and want to say "not today!"
Well, Amanda has a wonderful little saying that she uses to pull her through such times. Her favorite pick-me-up from the blues is "Get down with the downs, and don't let them get you down!" Amanda shares, "that works for me [because] I'm like, you know, so get down with me, like, Hey, I'm done with this. I'm okay with it. I'm okay to not be perfect all the time and be in a perfect mood all the time. I recognize that there's gonna be ups and downs in life. So I'm down with the downs. They're my homies. I bring them in. They're like my buddy." Accepting yourself is such an amazing way to keep going even in the wake of bad news, bad relationships, or just a bad day!
