Did you ever watch a movie and recognize the actor playing a supporting role, but not where you remember them from? Well then, you are in for a treat! In this special Spotlight Episode, we interview an actor who falls under that description all to often. We invite comedian, character actor, and writer Larry Hankin to talk about a decades long career in entertainment that has made him that guy you recognize in countless TV shows and movies. From his early films such as 'Escape from Alcatraz,' opposite Clint Eastwood, and the musical 'Annie;' to classic 80's comedies 'Armed and Dangerous' and 'Planes, Trains, and Automobiles' opposite John Candy, to 'Running Scared' opposite Billy Crystal; and into the 90's where he is features in 'Home Alone' and 'Billy Madison.' Not to mention his countless TV credits in almost every 80's sitcom, like 'Family Ties,' 'Mr. Belvedere,' 'Barney Miller,' 'WKRP;' and 90's classics, 'Seinfeld,' and most famously as Mr Heckles on 'Friends.' We sit down and discuss how Larry came into acting, starting with the friendship with famed Jaws screenwriter, Carl Gottlieb, while at Syracuse University, a little reference for our local listeners! Larry talks about his brand new book: That Guy: A Cautionary Memoir, chronicling his life trajectory that lead him to Hollywood. Learn straight from Larry, the steps to modest fame (Spoiler: they involve throwing a punch and screening in a porno theater) You have to listen to find out more! Believe me, you won't believe it, until you hear it!
