Description

This week we go back in time with former Sydney utility Terry Thripp. Terry reminisces about his career, reflects on some of special moments during his time in the game.

Terry, whose father Bill Thripp played with the Collingwood Football Club in the early 1960s, became the first local Sydney player to be recruited by the Swans in 1983.

Terry spent nearly 10 seasons at the Swans, playing 78 games and kicking 43 goals, with his best season coming in 1989 when he kicked 22 majors and polled eight Brownlow votes.

In this episode, Terry talks about the early beginnings of the Swans in Sydney, the injury setbacks throughout his career, the colourful years under Geoffrey Edelsten, the era alongside Warwick Capper, and some of the toughest opponents he came across during his time in the AFL.

It’s a fascinating look back at an important era of Sydney Swans history with one of the club’s original local players.

A great listen with the 119th member of 'The 90's Club Footy Podcast'.
