Description

Francia Thompson is a Special Agent in the Investigative Division of the OSBI.  She has been an agent since 2005 and has focused her career on crime scene investigations, where she has worked hundreds of violent crimes with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.  Thompson is currently assigned to the Cold Case Unit, where she uses her crime scene investigation skills to review and work cold cases.    Thompson holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and Criminology from the University of Oklahoma.  She is one of very few IAI (International Association for Identification) certified Crime Scene Investigators in Oklahoma.    Thompson also assists other law enforcement agencies throughout the state with Spanish interviews and document translations.  She teaches Crime Scene Investigation Techniques and Beginning Spanish for Law Enforcement courses to law enforcement agencies throughout the state.  She has received numerous awards from the OSBI including red feathers, team awards, 2010 Agent of the Year, and the 2017 Medal of Service.  Thompson is passionate about serving victims and being their voice.  She brought the Cold Case Playing Cards Initiative to Oklahoma, a program that features unsolved homicide victims, missing persons, and unidentified bodies on playing cards distributed in Oklahoma prisons.  Thompson was born in Mexico and her family immigrated to the United States when she was in grade school.  Once she graduated high school, she wanted to serve her country and joined the Oklahoma Army National Guard, serving eight years.  Her favorite quote is “All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them”- Walt Disney.  To Thompson, this quote embodies the spirit of hard work and perseverance, regardless of the challenges one faces.
