Description

In the summer of 2014, I just began facilitating poetry workshops on Rikers Island. This being my first experience of the infamous jail, I was immediately awestruck by the overrepresentation of Blacks. Because I reflect mainly through poetry, music, singing and writing, I decided to express my feelings of this realization by writing the song ‘Stop Guessing.’ I spit one of my favorite flows on this song and there’s no way I can forget these lyrics that I’m so emotionally attached to. Listen to Episode 72 of the Blue Poet Tree Podcast for the lyrical breakdown of the song.
