John 5 A Sabbath Healing
The body for many is central to their happiness. People believe that the body is the basis by which we gain our sense of self and identity, happiness and contentment, such that a skewed view makes people neglect the inner person in place of a singular focus on their body image. Today, we are looking at the One who has the Authority to give us that True Life. He is not only the Creator of our bodies, but the redeemer of our fallen and corrupted souls. He has the power and authority to give us New Life like we've never known.
The Invalid in this chapter is a person who represents all of us who feel like our bodies or the material circumstances of life get in the way of our happiness and fulfillment. We learn that our ultimate purposes are dependent on this body, but in the One who can give Eternal Life.
