Description

A clear message to us all, there is hope. Today Amy and her mum reflect on how their bond was key to Amy’s survival. They both speak frankly about the ongoing abuse from Amy’s boyfriend and how it felt for them both, Amy being the victim and mum being a spectator. Amy relays memories of being in a state of confusion and anxiety and constantly leaving the relationship but then returning to the perpetrator. Amy also describes the common tactics perpetrators use at the point of leaving, which goes from love bombing- holidays, money etc. and how quickly the fantasy fades and reality hits that there is no escaping his abuse. There is no happy ever after. In this recording Jo talks about the resilience required to keep the door open for your loved ones when they are in abusive relationships. She explains how at many points she was tested to the limit and came very close to walking away and letting Amy get on with it but she didn’t leave her daughters side. They both can see how this could have ended if Amy had no place to turn. We get a clear picture of how important it is to keep the door open for a victim of abuse as one day it may be the difference between life and DEATH, literally
