Welcome to our monthly solo episode, where Karaleigh shares stories from her own life. This week is centered around lessons learned on her retreat.
In this episode, we talk about finding a greater perspective, showing up with the right energy and how it effects the people around us, how storytelling and music can change the world, and how we allow ourselves to be loved in our messiness.
Favorite takeaways:
1. Being able to stand up on that high place, where you can distance yourself from your problems and take that eagle-eye view- it’s like everything that seemed so important just doesn’t have that weight anymore, it doesn’t seem so heavy anymore. Perspective is so key.
2. If we could just take a step back- every single time we are struggling, every single time we are feeling like things are going wrong, if we could give ourselves the gift of perspective, it would be so beautiful. To see our lives from 1000 feet in the air. To see our lives from eternity. To see what really matters.
3. Our energy affects the people around us so much, and when we choose to be calm and choose to really believe that everything is going to be ok, we manifest that into our lives. We allow God to prove that everything is going to be ok and that He really is holding us.
4. When you hear people tell their stories, you just love them. When you hear somebody be vulnerable and authentic, you just love them so freaking much, and then to hear them sing after that? It just amps up that vulnerability ten times. It melts all barriers, it melts your heart. Oh yeah- this is how we fix the world.
5. We are so afraid to show the world our messiness. We are so afraid to show up authentically and raw and real and ugly and messy and true, but people need that from us. People want that from us. And people will love us in our mess. People will love us in our mess if we give them the chance to.
6. None of us leads a perfect life. None of us is leading a mess-free life. There is chaos all around, and the more that you share the mess and the chaos and shine anyway, shine through it, the more that you give other people permission to do the same.
7. Our life changes in small increments, piece by piece by piece. That’s how our life changes- a little bit here, a little bit there. We grow, we stretch, that’s how it works.
