In Chapter 4 of the Book of Genesis, we hear for the first time a reference to sin. It says, "Sin is now lurking behind the door." But sin is not what we normally think it is. It is not an act. It's not simply a misdeed. ... Sin enters the world through humanity and enslaves humanity, such that human beings do things that they know are not in their best interests, getting caught up in things that hurt us and harm us.
