Description

Unlike last week, I'm not going to take you this week through the Nine Circles of Hell. In fact, the sermon I'm about to share with you is much more meditative in content and tone. And so I'm going to ask of each of you that you concentrate as much as you can, and hear the challenge that I will raise in this sermon on being an adult as a person of faith. It's possibly a little ironic that I would talk this way, but I really want to think through what it means to be an adult in conversation with Paul's First Letter to the Corinthians. And I want to say this: that letter is something that you all recognize, the content of it. For example, it's the text that's most often used at weddings. You hear the language of love that Paul is talking about. It's also that letter, I think, that perfectly summarizes the Gospel, in three words. Love never ends. But I'm not going to talk about that. I'm going to talk about the second half of the letter, that few people discuss. (w/ 2nd lesson: I Corinthians 13: 1 – 13)
