Pastor Dan Peterson: "How do we care for those who suffer from the pain and loss that can accompany divorce without adding guilt and shame to the burden they are already carrying? Must we depart from Jesus, who even acknowledges the difficulty of this teaching according to Matthew 19:12, or is there another way to read this passage, one that reveals a more compassionate Christ instead of Christ as lawgiver and judge?"
