EPISODE 11 ~ STORYTELLING AS MEDICINE AND LIBATION WITH ANIKE BELLO |‪ FRIDAY NOVEMBER 6TH | 5:00 PM, CAT‬.

In this episode,  Anike Bello deepens our knowledge on the power of story telling and the role it plays in our culture and shaping our African existence. She explains how storytelling is also an important tool for grounding self. Anike explores some of the stories beneath cultural items (African cloth)  that one may easily  overlook if they don't deepen their knowledge on African culture which when applied  can help one connect to self  and their ancestry.  She shares on the impact of colonization in African storytelling, using some of her personal experiences. She further highlights how stories can open us or contract us depending on how they are told and the influence this has on the collective and future African generation.  Anike finds African culture rich, abundant and limitless and recognizes that  through embracing it, Africans will remember the humanity they have been blocked from. She urges African descendants to be curious and open as a way to appreciate, expand and cultivate discernment when they explore African stories. Understanding our true African history can help us return to ourselves.
