In this series of podcast, the Accord Team, Rebecca and Naomi, examine the lives of Biblical personalities and their significance to us. In this episode, we look at Jonah who was a prophet of God. God gave him a message to give to the city of Nineveh but Jonah didn't want to take the message to the people because he didn't believe that they were worthy of God's forgiveness. Jonah ran away on a boat but he put the lives of the sailors in danger when God sent a storm after him. Eventually, the sailors had to throw Jonah over the side of the boat in order to calm the storm. God then sent a whale to swallow Jonah and whilst in the belly of the whale, Jonah cried out to God and asked for repentance. The whale spewed Jonah out on dry land and he went to Nineveh to deliver the message to the people. But the story doesn't end there! The people were saved but Jonah was furious that God had saved the people of Nineveh, and ultimately it was the state of his heart that stopped him from being able to celebrate with them.
