If you want to have an amazing marriage, it has to be on purpose. The seemingly insignificant shifts in the trajectory of your relationship can have a significant effect over time. Today’s episode covers how you can improve your marriage drastically by investing just 6, very intention, hours per week.
STATE OF THE UNION- 1 hour per week
Spending one hour a week Discussing areas of concern within the relationship gives couples the freedom to express their fears and concerns in a way that lets them feel loved and heard.
REUNIONS- 20 minutes per day, 5 days per week (1 hour 40 minutes)
When you see your partner again at the end of the day, share a hug and a kiss that lasts at least six seconds. it is a ritual of connection that is worth coming home to. Afterwards, spend 20 minutes having stress-reducing conversations.
DATE NIGHT- 2 hours per week
During date night ask open ended questions and focus on turning towards each other. This important “we time” is a relaxing and romantic way to stay connected to each other.
AFFECTION- 5 minutes daily (35 minutes)
Make sure to embrace each other before falling asleep (cuddling and goodnight kiss). Think of these moments of affection as a way to let go of minor stressors that have built up over the day.
PARTINGS- 2 minutes per day, 5 days per week (10 minutes)
Happy couples make an effort to learn one thing that is happening in their partners life that day before saying goodbye in the morning. This is about staying connected and making intentional effort to be involved in each other’s lives.
APPRECIATION AND ADMIRATION- 5 minutes daily (35 minutes)
Use an admiration journal to record small things you notice and connect it to a trait you admire about your partner. This primes your mind to see the positive traits in your partner rather than focus on the negative and also makes your partner feel valued.
