There is a lot of buzz around the metaverse. It does not have a firm definition, but the vision of it is a 3D immersive world where we will be spending a lot of time socializing, working, entertaining, learning and more. It is the combination of virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), gaming, social media and much more.
It will rely on blockchain technology and digital assets, such as non-fungible tokens (NFTs), to monetize transactions in the digital environment; and use artificial intelligence (AI) and internet of things (IoT) technologies to ensure seamless communications.
This can be very exciting but I couldn’t help but wonder what the ethical implications of this massive project will be so I thought I would be fun to discuss it with my good friend Dylan!

Dylan Wheeler is a serial entrepreneur with a passion for using technology to benefit humanity. His startup journey began in high school when he developed Loggit, a professional development management tool for K-12 teachers.
Growing this company in the education technology space led him to co-found ecoText a few years later with the mission to bring affordable textbooks to all higher education classrooms. Dylan helped the company raise venture capital funding and led the engineering team through shipping a series of products that support the mission of making education more collaborative and accessible.
Eager to make an impact beyond edtech, Dylan co-founded a real estate acquisition and management firm to help the next generation of investors build durable portfolios while also creating lasting community impact.
Dylan now works for a technology startup based out of Michigan called Exo Freight which is modernizing the shipping and logistics industry. The engineering team is building the first online marketplace for open deck shipping, helping to efficiently move freight across America and improve our country’s supply chain infrastructure.
Dylan is also an avid supporter of Bitcoin and is interested in how the cryptocurrency industry can unlock economic prosperity for creators on the Internet. He believes that digital ownership can fix many of the issues faced by today's Internet platform companies.
