While a student at the University of Texas at Austin, Fatoumata and her friends questioned how they could use their privilege as college students to make the world a better place. Born in Guinea, West Africa, Fatoumata had a deep understanding of the way "period poverty" negatively impacted girls ability to obtain an education. Fatoumata and her friends founded the Women's Relief Initiative, which aims to provide sanitary aid that empowers women, sustains the environment, and uplifts under-resourced communities.
