Talking about how trauma effects our nervous system with trauma and movement expert, Julie Thom. We go over traumas systemic impact and how to regulate our nervous system after a traumatic event.

Question 1: First, I think that we should start out by defining what trauma is….I think there’s a lot of confusion about it’s origins and naming of trauma like we’ve all heard the terms micro and macro traumas, big T, little t. How do you define trauma?

Question 2: How might trauma show up in our fascia and nervous system? And how do you release it?

Question 3: Can you tell us how the vagus nerve comes into play with trauma and its impacts on our functioning?

Question 4: Segwaying into the next question, do different body parts hold different emotions….? Like anger for instance showing up in the back of the neck, fear showing up in our gut as an upset stomach. Sadness stored in the throat/chest showing up as tightness or heart palpitations? Is being in touch with your emotions and where it shows up for you a key to healing?

Question 5: ( 2 part question) What have been your most impactful interventions for your clients? And could you share a quick application of how to perform a self release for trauma

Question 6: How has trauma work changed the way you approach each and every one of your clients? and what would you tell other practitioners starting out in this area?

Question 7: Who has shaped your learning in this area of practice (mentored you, ppl you follow) and what resources do you recommend for listeners if they’d like to learn a bit more?
