A solid foundation is important. Building on a solid foundation is the key to the success of nearly anything in life—a building, an organization, a family—these all require a solid foundation.
Churches are much the same. Churches that have the right foundation, are set up to not just survive, but to thrive. If a church is to thrive, it needs to have the right underlying structure. Churches must have the right structure when it comes to ministerial leaders. That means that churches first of all must have the right kind of leaders, and second of all that leadership must be arranged in the right way. God has a very specific way he wants the leadership of the church to be organized, and he describes very specifically in Scripture what this looks like. And as we unpack our text together he gives us some very specific direction for how church leadership should appear. He reminds us that:
Big Idea: leadership affects direction, so churches need the right leadership in order to move in the right direction.
