Episode 20
In this episode, I sat down and had a chat with Malte Leander, aka, Cikada. He is dropping the excellent trance-pop/ Rnb LP, Taking Shapes. His first LP in English (he's Swedish but lives in Montreal), Taking Shapes, has Cikada growing as an artist, no longer afraid to take sonic chances.
There are references to his time in Sweden and his curious, experimental artistic vision; derived from his parents, who were part of a travelling Swedish theatre troupe. But, with his unique blend of downtempo and high-energy electro-pop and hip hop, there is no one right now who sounds like Cikada.
His soon-to-be-released music video "Do the Right Thing" (out April 1) also feels like what would happen if David Lynch directed a game show.
