As Jesus emerges from the wilderness, Luke records that he is filled with the Holy Spirit’s power. In his first recorded public teaching Jesus declares these liberating words of God - that God’s heart is marked by forgiveness and his forgiveness has many dimensions that deal with freedom from sin, social, economic, and psychological oppression.
