A happily EVER after would only be possible, and very boring, if we could completely manipulate and control the other person… but WHO will do the controlling??

When we expect life and marriage to be 100% happy we set ourselves up for disappointment.
It would be like wanting to lie by the pool the entire summer and expect to never get splashed.
EVEN in movies… there’s conflict and making up.
I don’t know another couple that likes spending 24/7 together… yet we still argue every now and then… it’s NORMAL!
I’ve never been so mad at my husband THAT I did not want to hug and kiss him… never.
Being in an ever-happy marriage is like expecting nothing to ever go wrong in life… it’s IMPOSSIBLE!
We’re married to a living human being… and we’re a living human being.
For better or for worse, in sickness and in health… means we know there’ll be tough times.
Allow for detours, delays, trains, accidents, potholes.
Imagine expecting to drive across country (long drive) and expect that nothing will go wrong… say it takes 36 hrs to drive there and you have a very important speaking event to be at, and you leave with only 36 hrs to get there.
Makes no sense!
