As October approaches, for those of us who have been in education, we know their is a steep dip in overall happiness during this month and you have likely heard of the the "Phases of a First Year Teacher".
I was recently a guest on The Teacher Hotline Podcast and shared essentially how I experienced all of the phases, particularly in my first year. For me, the "Disillusionment Phase" actually came pretty quickly. It hit me in my second week of teaching. Not only do I remember that, but it is documented in the journal I kept. However, I can honestly say, these phases were not unique to my first year. I experienced them in all my years of teaching, just to different degrees.
The "Disillusionment Phase" is a dark phase and a real one, however as I have worked on my own self and have coached teachers, I have found ways that we not only can shorten the phase, but turn that black ski slope into a bunny hill.
Take a listen to the this week's episode and find out how to ensure that you and/ or your teachers not only "survive" October but actually "thrive" in one of the most challenging months educators endure.
And be sure to sign up for my "First 10 Days of October Educator Happiness Challenge". It is a free challenge where daily, I will send you an email with a 2-10 minute quick challenge to support how we make it through this month! The more the merrier and I this challenge is EVEN BETTER when we do this alongside our educator besties!
