For those who serve well as deacons gain a good standing for themselves and great confidence in the faith that is in Christ Jesus.

Everyone wants to have good standing in life. We want people to pat us on the back and tell us that we've done a good job. But our best job is the job of Christian. A disciple of Jesus Christ. A follower who keeps himself or herself in the faith.
That is why pastors encourage their parishioners to entrench themselves in God's Word. To read it and meditate upon it daily. This spiritual discipline allows you to become a better disciple. A better follower. A better Christian.
