Love covers a multitude of sins.
(1 Peter 4:8)
St. Peter echoes St. Paul's words to the Romans: "For if many died through one man's trespass, much more have the grace of God and the free gift by the grace of that one man Jesus Christ abounded for many. And the free gift is not like the result of that one man's sin. For the judgment following one trespass brought condemnation, but the free gift following many trespasses brought justification. For if, because of one man's trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ" (5:15-17).
Love truly covers a multitude of sins. Adam and Eve sinned in Genesis 3. We don't see Jesus coming to die for their sins in Genesis 4. In fact, it is more than four thousand years later. Many others sinned between Adam and Jesus. But Jesus' love covers all of the sins from Adam's sin in the Garden to the last sin committed right before Jesus returns on the Last Day.
Jesus' love covers your sins. That's God's true Word for you. May you find His comfort in it today. Amen.
